He who forgets the past… by The Mad Preacher, Rod Davis “A nation that forgets its past is doomed to repeat it.”—Winston Churchill No one in his right mind would think that war is good or glorious. Oswald Chambers said, “War is the most damnably bad thing. Because God overrules a thing and brings good out of it does not mean that the thing itself is a good thing.” It’s understandable, then, that some do not look favorably at the war against terrorism. Any sane person would agree with Mr. Chambers. We should indeed hate war. Indeed no one hates war more than those who, like me, have been in one. However, consider these words of retired Lt. General Hal Moore, who was portrayed by Mel Gibson in the film We Were Solders . “Hate war but love the warrior.” No matter how one may feel about the war against terrorism, it’s imperative that we pray for the warriors who are involved in this conflict. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. -Paul (2 Corinthians 12:7-9) Arguably, the Apostle Paul was Christianity’s first theologian. God revealed to him some of the deepest truths recorded in the Bible. In fact, God divulged things to him that simply astounded the other apostles. His teachings were considered so radical that many of the Jewish “believers” joined th...
